Hello everyone! So, today we went up to Baltimore to see the "once in a life time" map exhibit. It was pretty cool to tell you the truth. We got to see lots of new maps, as well as some favorties. I thought it was great how we got to see actual maps that we've seen in books throughout some of our classes. Like the famous Cholera Map. I personally really enjoyed someof the oriental maps. The amount of detail and creativity put into those maps is amazing. There was also a map I got a kick out of. It was a map of the world, and it showed India being where Mexico really is. Just interesting to see a map to go along with what people such as Columbus really believed at the time. I also enjoyed the stone and stick maps. It's pretty cool that even before paper was in use, people were using what they had to portray a sense of direction and location.
I thought it was unfortunate that they wouldn't allow pictures to be taken of this amazing exhibit. Especially since these maps will probably never be gathered and put together for an exibit again. Or atleast during our lifetime? But, i'm not one to follow the rules! So, I did manage to get a snap shot of just a few maps. Don't tell anyone!! Haha, enjoy.

Hey Caroline,
We're so thrilled that you enjoyed the "Maps" exhibition. We wish we could allow photography, but the museums and collectors that loan works for exhibitions usually prohibit taking pictures. Hope you come to visit the Walters again soon! Amy
